The Slovenian Theatre Institute Launches Oder, the Slovenian Performing Arts Portal

The Slovenian Theatre Institute (SLOGI) has launched Oder, a new central online portal that, for the first time, brings together the entire heritage and contemporary production of the Slovenian performing arts in a single digital environment. Serving as a modern digital gateway, the portal integrates information on performances, artists, producers, extensive archival materials, and current stage productions, providing a comprehensive point of access for exploring Slovenian theatre and the performing arts.

Zofka Kveder in gledališče, razstava ob 100-letnici smrti. Poleg rokopisov, revialnih objav, knjižnih izdaj in gradiva o uprizoritvah razstavljamo del obsežne strokovne literature in pomembnejših poznejših izdaj. Razstava je odprta od 2. junija do 23. septembra 2026.

V Slovenskem gledališkem inštitutu že vrsto let pripravljamo pogovor z vsakoletnim prejemnikom oziroma prejemnico Borštnikovega prstana. Najvišje igralsko odličje za življenjsko delo bo letos prejel Aleš Valič. Z njim se bo v četrtek, 4. junija 2026, ob 18. uri v Slovenskem gledališkem inštitutu pogovarjala teatrologinja in kustosinja Ana Perne.

Na kakšne načine so se na odru manifestirale njegove pesniške podobe, kako so zadoneli njegovi prodorni zvoki – o tem in mestu, ki ga ima Kosovel na zemljevidu slovenske umetniške scene si lahko poslušate v oddaji Oder na 3. programu Radia Slovenija – programu Ars,  ki sta jo pripravili Ana Perne s Slovenskega gledališkega inštituta in urednica oddaje 𝘖𝘥𝘦𝘳 Petra Tanko.

In 2026, we mark 70 years since passing of Bertolt Brecht, theatre practitioner and one of the key theatre reformists whose theoretical framework in the 1930s challenged and stretched dramaturgical norms of contemporary theatre. Slovenian Theatre Institute is a part of the interdisciplinary project on Brecht’s work and its relevance today.

Accessibility of cultural heritage of the performing arts

Gledališče kot muzej, publikacija

The Muzeum Institute, which made a decisive contribution to the introduction of visual arts and contemporary dance into Slovenian performing arts in the 1990s, is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The publication Theatre as a Museum was co-published by the Slovenian Theatre Institute and the Muzeum Institute, directed by Barbara Novakovič, a producer and curator.

Dušan Jovanović – monograph

The first comprehensive monograph on the work of Dušan Jovanović was published in the collection Documents of the Slovenian Theatre Institute, conceived and edited by Dr. Diana Koloina.

Dr. Gašper Troha, direktor Slovenskega gledališkega inštituta, je pripravil e-razstavo, na kateri je s pomočjo fotografij in video posnetkov predstavil dosedanje uprizoritve Jančarjevega Velikega briljantnega valčka na Slovenskem. A book of memoirs by literary historian, writer and playwright Dušan Moravec (1920–2015) has been published in co-publishing with Beletrina and the Slovenian Theatre Institute.

16. novembra 2024 mineva 100 let od rojstva Duše Počkaj, znamenite slovenske igralke moderne dobe, ki je bila igralsko izrazita v upodabljanju likov, razpetih med tragičnim in komičnim, z groteskno oziroma absurdno noto – tudi kot odzivom na dezorientiranost sočasne družbene stvarnosti.

Don Quixote - the ballet classic in Slovenian professional theatres

A lecture before the premiere of the new Ljubljana production will present the difference in approaches of individual choreographers and how the productions were received by the audience, while a conversation with ballerinas Regina Križaj, Urša Vidmar and Tjaša Kmetec and choreographer Denis Matvienko will provide an insight into the creation of a ballet role and the different encounters with the ballet model. The event will be organised by Sonja Kerin Krek and Gašper Troha in collaboration with SNT Opera and Ballet Ljubljana and the Slovenian Theatre Institute.

Theater pedagogy in museums and at performance work

As part of the Erasmus+ project Engaged Audience 2.0, theater pedagogue and director Claudia Bühlmann will visit us from October 17 to 22, 2024. On Monday, October 21, 2024, she will hold the training Creating Theater in the Museum at the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum, and on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, she will participate in the conference Theater Pedagogy: Children on Stage and hold a workshop for professional theater creators.

Slovenian Theatre Annual 2022/2023

The Slovenian Theater Yearbook 2022/2023 has been published, the thirty-first in a row, which has been regularly published under this name since 1994, and is also the 36th continuation of the centenary Repertoarja of Slovenian theaters (1867–1967), which was first published on the centenary of the founding of the Drama Society (1967 ). The yearbook is based on an online database of Slovenian theater productions (on the portal sigledal.org), but it also significantly improves the data collected there - with editorials, data on festivals and awards, data on reruns and guest appearances, and a summary and comparison of data between individual theaters.

Connecting Avant-Gardes and Theatre: How to Revolutionise the Relationship between the Periphery and the Centre / Amfiteater Journal International Academic Symposium

The UL AGRFT research group, together with the scientific journal Amfiteater, the Slovenian Theater Institute and the Slovenian Society of Aesthetics, within the UL AGRFT research program Theater and inter-art research (P6-0376), has prepared an international scientific symposium in which more than 25 foreign and domestic experts will participate and artists. The aim of the symposium will be to map the various geographical and historical attempts to revolutionize the relationship between the periphery and the center in Europe and beyond.

ENICPA Meeting and General Assembly

Between October 7 and 9, 2024, the Slovenian Theater Institute hosted the regular annual meeting and general assembly of the European Network of Information Centers for the Performing Arts (ENICPA – European Network of Information Centers for the Performing Arts), of which SLOGI is also a member.
