Audio Collection and Video Archive

The Audio Collection and the Video Archive are program branches of the SLOGI - Theater Museum, dedicated to the collection, professional processing and storage of material from the field of theater on various sound and image carriers, as well as taking care of the transcription of analog recordings into digital format, which enables the accessibility of audiovisual content and their use in research or study purposes.

The material is occasionally included in exhibition and other SLOGI projects, such as cooperation with Radio Slovenia in the preparation of occasional editions of the Oder show.

Audio collection as one of the museum collections SLOGI - the Theater Museum, it preserves an extremely important cultural heritage and a valuable testimony of the most fleeting art, which is provided by sound recordings of theater performances - some dating back more than half a century - as well as recordings of original stage music or musical equipment performance. In addition to these works of art, the collection also includes radio plays and material that significantly contributes to a more complete image of creation in the Slovenian theater field, such as conversations with creators.

Recordings of dissection exercises that introduce performance studies are of particular value, as the preserved sound recordings today provide an insight into some of the playwright's and director's ideas at the very beginning of the creative processes of new theater works.

Video archive it mainly includes recordings of performances of Slovenian institutional and non-institutional theater productions; these audiovisual records, which are also extremely valuable for maintaining ties with the (semi)past theater moment, are supplemented by recordings of events and projects in the (co)organization of the Slovenian Theater Institute and its predecessor, the Slovenian Theater Museum, such as meetings with actors and others co-creators of the Slovenian theater landscape or reading performances of original dramatic texts, which are traditionally included in SLOGI within the framework of the Slovenian Drama Week.
