The Slovenian Theater Institute (SLOGI) in cooperation with the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television of the University of Ljubljana (UL AGRFT) prepared an exhibition at the end of 2022 I worked for 40 years. From our collections: Servant Jernej – from Cankar to Skrbinšek and Delak; it was on display at the premises of SLOGI, and in June of this year, as part of the Borštnik's Meeting Festival, it was also hosted at the Maribor University Library.
The author of the exhibition Dr. Aldo Milohnić (UL AGRFT) and M.Sc. Tea Rogelj (SLOGI) devoted themselves to the most important dramatizations of Cankar's story The servant Jernej and his right (it is Ivan Cankar's most translated work, which encouraged - and still encourages - numerous adaptations for theatre, opera, choral music, radio, film, television, and more recently comics): he wrote the first over a hundred years ago (1922) the versatile theater creator Milan Skrbinšek, and the second, almost ninety years ago (1932), by the avant-garde artist Ferdo Delak.
At the exhibition, selected materials from the collections of the Slovenian Theater Institute - Theater Museum (typescripts and book editions of dramatizations, stage sketches, sketches for projections, stickers, theater sheets, photos of performances...) were displayed, which accompanied many stagings of Skrbinško's and Delak's adaptations Jerne's servant.
In order to keep the collected and researched material easily accessible, we digitized it and created a virtual version of the exhibition, accessible at museums.si and sigledal.org.
