The experimental theatre Glej began operating in June 1970 with a performance of Handke's play Kaspar. The oldest non-institutional theatre in Slovenia has produced 130 performances in its 40 years of operation and has left numerous traces in the Slovenian (and also Yugoslav) space.
The Slovenian Theatre Museum and the Glej Theatre marked the anniversary with a retrospective exhibition, Glej, 40 Years (1970-2010). The authors of the exhibition, Ana Perne and Samo Gosarič, provided a chronological overview of Glej's production, highlighted the most prominent productions and authorial poetics, shed light on the direction of the theatre under various artistic directors, outlined a map of different performance locations, presented various activities of the theatre (Mali Glej, Preglej)... and offered reflections on the development of the theatre, as well as on the society in which (and for which) it operated.
