The bulk of this year's first issue Amphitheater, journals for performing arts theory, present discussions prepared based on contributions to the Amphitheatre Symposium, which is on the topic »Theatrical experiment in Slovenia (1966–1986) and its echoes" held in autumn 2022 at the Slovenian Theater Institute (SLOGI) in Ljubljana.
This issue thus brings eight original essays in Slovenian and English. Several articles deal with performance writing, the new forms of which emerged in the 1960s and 1970s. Although they did not eliminate traditional dramatic forms, they radically changed the role of textuality in theatre. The authors of the essays explore the diverse relationships between writing and performance, between dramatic and (experimental) performance practices, as a rule in the Slovenian context. Reading performances are particularly discussed, as well as some specific and less well-known aspects.

New issue of the magazine Amfiteater were presented on June 29, 2023 at the Slovenian Theatre Institute by the new editor-in-chief of the journal, Dr. Maja Murnik, in collaboration with the authors of two essays in this issue, Maša Radi Buh and Jakob Ribič, and Dr. Gašper Troha, director of SLOGI.

Amfiteater magazine is published jointly by the Slovenian Theater Institute (SLOGI) and the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television of the University of Ljubljana (UL AGRFT).
The journal is included in MLA International Bibliography (Directory of Periodicals), Scopus and DOAJ. The publication was financially supported by the Research Agency of the Republic of Slovenia and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
