On the schedule of the 51st Week of Slovenian Drama
Epidemic conditions also prevented the Slovenian Drama Week (TSD) from being held in the traditional spring term in 2021. Nevertheless, on March 27, World Theater Day, when TSD usually begins, this year's nominees for the Slavko Grum Award were announced. On April 6, on the day when the closing event of the festival should have been held in the normal time, the two Grum awardees were announced (Maja Šorli for the text You haven't tried this flavor yet) and recipient of the award for young playwright 2021 (Nina Kucar Stiković for the text Tomorrow he looked different in the dream). Already in the spring, the Slovenian Theater Institute, Prešeren's Theater Kranj and Layer's House recorded and published it conversations with the authors of the nominees (in addition to Maja Šorla, Simona Semenič was also nominated for the text I'm already running, Vedrana Grisogono Nemeš for the text Frank and Nika Švab for the text Work and the girl I–V: Dramas of oppressed women) and award-winning texts.
The nominees' day will be slightly different in this year's festival. The usual reading performances of the nominated texts, which will be prepared by AGRFT students under the guidance of their mentors, will be followed by a panel discussion with the nominees and prize-winners instead of conversations about individual texts. The discussion will address both the works that will be staged as a reading, as well as the relationship between dramatic writing and theatrical staging in the current performance production. What role does the Grum Award play in this? What is the understanding of examples of direct involvement of dramatic writing in performance processes and what position do the texts created in this way have in other dramatic creation? Does the connection of dramatic material with performance material change the view of the role of the author?
