Ivanka Mežan (1926), the recipient of the Borštnik Ring with the oldest year of birth among the laureates, first stepped onto the stage at the Slovenian National Theatre in the liberated territory in Črnomelj, then studied at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Ljubljana and became a member of the Ljubljana Drama.

"A series of exceptional creations tells us about an artist who has told us everything about acting, but still has not told us everything about herself. That is why actress Ivanka Mežan is worth discovering again and again. So much of her fragile femininity and suggestive temperament lives in her constant openness to the world, so much of the immense weight of behavior in her that she seems like a jewel that is measured and weighed, but always shines anew in the glow of the stage lights," it is written in the explanation of the Borštnikov Prstan 1995 award.
