The thirties

In this book, Kermauner undertakes an analysis of two plays that deal with the period immediately before World War II, by Stanko Kocipr For now and Vitomil Zupan The Story of Jurij Trajbas. Each author from his own perspective, Kociper from the ultra-right, and Zupan from the ultra-left, critically analyzes the character of a liberal entrepreneur, merchant, innkeeper, landlord, notary, politician. In these characters, both playwrights see the basic evil that threatens Slovenians. They are part of Kermauner's representative drama of two exclusively conflicting, on the one hand, and identical, orientations-authors, who each develop in their own way after the war: Kociper with a return to the pre-war right, Zupan with a transition to new creative areas.
