In 2017, the Slovenian Theatre celebrates an important anniversary, the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Dramatic Society in Ljubljana. It was only with the founding of the Dramatic Society in 1867 that the foundations for the development of Slovenian theatre in the modern era were laid. The scientific monograph The Beginnings and Achievements of Slovenian Theatre in the Modern Era: On the 150th Anniversary of the Founding of the Dramatic Society in Ljubljana is dedicated to the Society itself, its role, its development and its achievements. In order to obtain the most multifaceted image of the Society in time and space, we have outlined a series of perspectives or possible thematizations, from the Dramatic Society on its development path in terms of historical, cultural-historical or sociological insights, to the development of all internal elements that constitute the Dramatic Society or Slovenian theatre: dramaturgy, repertoire, theatre iconography, professions, architecture, etc. The scientific monograph was contributed by Dr. Štefan Vevar, Dr. Aldo Milohnić, Dr. Darja Koter, Dr. Aleš Gabrič, Dr. Nadja Zgonik, Dr. Gašper Troha, Ivo Svetina, Dr. Mateja Pezdirc Bartol, Dr. Blaž Lukan, Dr. Tone Smolej, Dr. Irena Avsenik Nabergoj, Dr. Gregor Pompe, Dr. Igor Grdina, Peter Bedjanič, Dr. Henrik Neubauer, Dr. Katarina Podbevšek and Dr. Barbara Orel.
