The Slovenian Theatre Yearbook 2014/2015 is the twenty-third in the series and is also the 28th continuation of the century-long Repertoarj of Slovenian theatres (1867-1967). It is based on an online database of Slovenian theatre production (available at www.sigledal.org), but it also substantially builds on the data collected there - with editorials, data on festivals and awards, data on revues and touring, a summary and comparison of data between specific theatres (on a statistical table).
It covers 231 premieres and 260 different reprises of Slovenian institutional, non-institutional and also prominent semi-professional theatres and theatre groups. The increase in the number of premieres, as can be seen from the statistical table, is mainly apparent compared to the previous season (2013/14). It is mainly due to an increase in the number of co-productions, and partly also to an increase in the number of so-called pseudopremieres. In the 231 co-productions, there are 48, which means that there are actually 183 premieres. Pseudopremieres are, on the one hand, a sign of the pluralism of theatrical poetics and new explorations, but on the other hand, they are also symptoms of the times: of post-war, fragmentation, performative hand-wringing. Both co-productions and pseudopremieres pose a considerable problem in the evaluation of attendance, repetitions and touring. It is not possible to attribute all repetitions, all audiences and all tours to all the theatres involved in a co-production relationship. This would unjustifiably double or triple the totals in the statistics. The numerical evaluation of these categories is explained in the statistical table in Chapter V, but even an objectivised evaluation of quantitative indicators is not in itself sufficient, since the data, which are otherwise indispensable, must also be re-objectivised in the context of specific productions and specific theatres in comparison with others.
In line with its concept, the Yearbook provides a comprehensive overview of premieres, reprisals and tours in individual theatres and beyond, details of festivals and the awards and prizes awarded to theatre-goers, as well as the aforementioned detailed and comprehensive statistics. For each theatre (and cumulatively), it shows the proportions of Slovenian and non-Slovenian authors, premieres and revivals, and also the number of all tours, all plays performed and the number of spectators attracted. The various registers make it easier for the user to find the performances; for example, it is possible to find a premiere by chronological order within each theatre in Index I, by its author in Index II, by its title in Index III, or by the people involved in it in Index IV.
