Today's Slovenian Drama 4

Fourth book in the subseries Today's Slovenian drama was named after the comedy by Erwin Fritz Lipizzaner (2000). Lipizzaner of course, it is a metaphor for today's Slovenia. To the analysis of this play, Kermauner adds analyses of some contemporary Slovenian plays that have been performed in recent years, namely: Alice, Alice Dragice Potočnjak, Slovenian lemonade Vinko Möderndorfer, Naked pianist or a little night music Matjaž Zupančič and Psyche and File Baron Munchausen Emil Filipčič, the latter was written by the author in the early 90s or in the 80s. The present book covers the period of the twenties, and the analyses published in it show that during this time there were no significant changes in Slovenian consciousness, despite the fateful changes in the political and state history of Slovenians. The book is also a commentary on the ironic, grotesque, farcical drama, as shaped by today's Slovenian comedies. As one might conclude, Slovenian present-day is quite a caricature of itself.
