The world is shaking...
"I was born to teach him lessons"? I can try. Also with the exhibition Hamlet in Slovenia, with which we present Slovenian theatrical heritage and a powerful gallery of Slovenian acting champions, Slovenian Hamlets. Also with the comic book Hamlet, with which Hamlet leaps into the future, into another medium and another accessibility. Hamlet is a hero of every time, including today. Thinking about being or not being, about the land of the dungeon, about revenge, guilt, deciding to act, taking responsibility, putting one's life on the line, believing in change... are Hamlet's principles that express an active attitude towards the world. Through getting to know Hamlet as cultural heritage, a dramatic text, a theatrical performance, a comic book... it is possible to get to know oneself and (re)think one's attitude towards others and the world. In a world that is in turmoil, we are all born to teach him lessons - we just have to dare, believe in ourselves and constantly try, just like Hamlet.

William Shakespeare: Hamlet, to be or not to be in comics
The comic Hamlet, to be or not to be in comics, created by the renowned Slovenian cartoonist Andrej Potrč in collaboration with Ciril Horjak, uses the latest translation of Hamlet into Slovenian, created by Srečko Fišer for the staging at the SNG Drama Ljubljana in 2013 and for which he also received the Borštnik Award for Translation at the 48th Borštnik's Meeting Festival. The text for the comic is shortened (as theatre creators also shorten it, since the entire Hamlet on stage would last more than four hours), but not adapted. The entire story, all actions and most scenes are preserved. The missing scenes do not significantly affect the story. The actions and scenes are marked in the comic as in the original text. A prologue has been added, which is partly adapted, and partly uses the text from the last scene of Hamlet. The comic is the first Hamlet in comics in Slovenia.
