Generator::to produce any number of drama complexes is a compendium almost 60 dramatic and performance texts by 30 Slovenian authors (A. Kermauner, M. Hanžek, S. Žižek, V. Kovač – Chubby, S. Simčič, D. Jovanović, T. Šalamun, OHO, R. Močnik, I. Zagoričnik, T. Kralj, S. Makarovič, M Jesih, F. Rudolf, I. Svetina, BA Novak, V. Zupan, A. Brvar, P. Lužan, O. Zagoričnik, J. Detela, F. Zagoričnik, I. Osojnik, A. Rozman – Roza, B. Švigelj, K. Muck, Theater Sisters Scipion Nasice, M. Berger). The key formal criterion for their selection, which he prepared dr. Blaž Lukan, was the "loss" or "dispersion" and thus the "unknownness" of texts based on the ephemerality or "inaccessibility" of their original publication in a newspaper or magazine, less often in book form. The main purpose of the edition was therefore to enable their (repeated and commented) accessibility and to draw special attention to them. The selection covers the period of Slovenian (literary) modernism (1966–1986); the second half of the 1960s meant a break with tradition and the establishment of avant-garde tendencies in Slovenian literature. The range of works ranges from apparently "traditional" drama, which experiments either with language, with the psychological design of characters or with dramatic action, through innovative dramatic forms that are either genre hybrids or cross the boundaries of poetry, prose or essay, all the way to radicalized forms "dramas". The special feature of the selection is that it also includes these performance texts, i.e. synopses, scenarios or performative ideas, as well as descriptions of already performed plays or performances and even "dramas", which by their primary nature are not dramas at all, but through today's (post-dramatic) view they certainly become so.
Blaž Lukan is an assistant professor of dramaturgy and head of the Department of Dramaturgy and Performing Arts at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television of the University of Ljubljana, where he received his doctorate in 2006. He was the artistic director of Experimental Theater Glej (1985─1988) and SLG Celje (1989─ 1993), co-selector of the international puppet festival Lutke (2000 and 2002), selector of the national theater festival Borštnikovo srčenje (2002 and 2003) and president of the Society of Theater Critics and Theaterologists of Slovenia (2008─2012). He is a member of the editorial board of Amfiteater magazine. He works as a practical dramaturg in the theater and in film, writes theater reviews, accompanying forewords to book publications of dramas and professional texts by Slovenian and foreign authors, as well as scientific discussions in the field of drama and the theory of performing arts.
