SGM documents were born from the desire to present and interpret historical material about the theater. They have been with us for many decades and fulfill their original mission in different ways. Anniversaries are an opportunity to look back on the journey we've made and also celebrate a little because it is the oldest collection of the Slovenian Theater Museum (SGM)/Institute (SLOGI) still alive and well. Over such a long period, there are ups and downs: what is of undoubted importance is continuous work, which in the end brings results and confirmation of the meaning of its existence.

Translator, publicist and long-time curator of SGM, Štefan Vevar, who was associated with the publication as an author and editor, wrote about it five years ago - in a contribution to the publication of the hundredth volume – wrote the following:

The Documents In the more than fifty years since its existence, the Slovenian Theater Museum or the Institute has carried out a pioneering mission in one of the key areas of Slovenian cultural history, shedding light on the subject in which the field was wrapped up, and thereby also filling the gap in school and general education. The field is called Slovenian theater history, and precisely with The Documents this discipline has only really taken shape in Slovenia.

Despite the hardships and changes that the publication has endured along the way, we can note that it still fulfills its original mission. On her sixtieth birthday Documents we prepared an exhibition with the title From a theater magazine to a book collection. Our desire is to emphasize the importance of this publication for our theater and wider cultural history, and at the same time remember the editors, writers and other collaborators - there were more than one hundred and fifty in all - who helped us to have more than one hundred numbers. In preparation for the sixtieth anniversary, we thought it appropriate that the anniversary is not only accompanied by an exhibition that can only capture the external image, some highlights and facts, but also more detailed display of content Documents.

That's right a bibliography created again after fifty years, which most directly shows the quantity and quality of the very diverse book material. The added index enables searching by the names discussed (articles about Ivan Cankar, Oton Župančič...) and actual keywords (ballet, Koper - theater, radio...). More than one hundred and fifty sections are said to be helpful in the search, while at the same time testifying to the wealth of content Documents.
