We have included both surviving versions of Modr's translation of Kleist's work in our digital library. A broken jug. The typescript without a date is from the archives of the Ljubljana Drama, where the play was staged during World War II. Two typescript translations are stored under the signature AD 597. One lists Miran Jarc as the translator, and the other Janko Moder. The translations differ.
In the 1953/54 season, the work was staged at the SLG in Celje. The premiere was on January 13, and the comedy was directed by Andrej Hieng.
A text entitled "Theatrical newspaper" was published Between translators and translations, written by playwright Lojze Filipič. In his article, the author compared three translations A broken jug: in addition to the two Slovenian versions, Jarčev and Modrov, there is also a Serbian translation by Boško Pešrović. From the quoted excerpts it is clear that the third version of Modrov's translation was performed in Celje, as the text partially differs from both the typescript from the Drama archive and the variant from the book edition.
