On the anniversary of the birth of the poet, playwright, composer and politician Miroslav Vilhar (1818 – 1871), we are exhibiting some of his original dramatic works and translations. The library holds a book edition of the "original native play with songs", Jamska Ivanka (1850). Fifteen years later, Vilhar's plays were published in six volumes (1865-66) and, as the last, an adaptation of the German comedy It Was Me! (1868). Our collection also has two manuscripts: the play Kdor prej come, ta prej melje and Vilhar's translation, Benedix's comedy Strijček.
Some of the exhibited material is dedicated to the memory of the theatre editor, historian and writer Mirko Mahnič, who died this year, and his bestsellers: for the Ljubljana City Theatre, he staged Vilharjeva Clover, The Mayor and The Honest Girl under the joint title Večer v čitalnici.
