A journal for the theory of performing arts Amfiteater was founded in 2008 by the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television of the University of Ljubljana.

The journal is included in MLA International Bibliography (Directory of periodicals), Scopus, DOAJ, ERIH PLUS, EBSCO. The journal is included in class A of the registry by the Italian Agenzia nazionale di valutazione del sistema universitario della ricerca.

The publication was financially supported by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.

The volume starts with a thematic block entitled "Contributions to the Theory of New Media Art" and discussions on some of the key themes in the theory of new media art. The authors of discussions understand new media art more broadly, through its social contexts and implications, as well as through its relations with other social, political, philosophical, cultural and artistic issues and phenomena, such as the challenges of the anthropocene, gaming, social media, activism and artificial intelligence. The authors of the discussions are Janez Strehovec, PhD, Aleš Vaupotič, PhD, and Narvika Bovcon, PhD; a longer introduction was written by Maja Murnik, PhD.

In addition to the thematic block, the number brings an essay on the comic in the theatre for children and young people and five book reviews.

The issue was edited by Maja Murnik, PhD.
