A journal for the theory of performing arts Amfiteater was founded in 2008 by the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television of the University of Ljubljana.

The journal is included in: MLA International Bibliography (Directory of periodicals), Scopus, DOAJ, ERIH PLUS, EBSCO, AskBisht. The journal is included in class A of the registry by the Italian Agenzia nazionale di valutazione del sistema universitario della ricerca.

The publishing of Amfiteater is supported by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.

The second volume of the thirteenth year of the Amfiteater journal introduces two discussions from the ‘Connecting Avant-Gardes and Theatre: How to Revolutionise the Relationship between the Periphery and the Centre’ symposium theme, which was the focus of the previous issue of the journal (1/2025). The first article advocates for the re-evaluation and recognition of Eastern European art in the canon of world art history. The second article discusses the development of futuristic dance and the role of dancer Giannina Censi.

Three more discussions follow: the first tackles engaged theater using the example of two productions by Žiga Divjak, the second interprets hybridity in literature with a focus on Handke's play Still Storm, and the third analyzes school drama in post-war Slovenia through the work of Marija Vida Kovačič.

The authors of the essays are: prof. dr. Aleksandra Jovićević, mag. Manca Lipoglavšek, doc. dr. Blaž Lukan, mag. Miša Glišič, and prof. dr. Milena Mileva Blažić.

The issue concludes with two book reviews: in the first, Tajda Lipicer analyzes Gašper Troha's book Slovenska dramatika in tuji vplivi po letu 2000 (Slovenian Drama and Foreign Influences after 2000), while in the second, Nik Žnidaršič reviews the anthology Theatre Censorship in Contemporary Europe: Silence and Protest, edited by Anne Etienne and Chris Megson.

The issue was edited by dr. Maja Murnik.
