In the past, theater life in Ljubljana was strongly influenced by various ethnic influences within the Habsburg Monarchy and the commercial and cultural routes that led through our city. We will learn how Slovenian theater developed under German, Italian and Czech influences on a walk that will take us from the Slovenian Theater Institute to the former Provincial Theatre, today's Slovenian National Theater of Opera and Ballet Ljubljana. We will take a look at the external features of the building, talk about its construction and the operation of the German and Slovenian theater under the same roof. Then we will go inside to see the theater hall and backstage, and get to know the functioning of the central Slovenian musical theater today, which is also marked by international influences. Pre-registration required (until vacancies are filled) at: sandra.jenko@slogi.si.
A public tour for individual visitors will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 10 a.m.
For organized school groups we are preparing after prior registration and until the vacant positions are filled, including management 8, 10 and 11 October 2024, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. (by appointment at: sandra.jenko@slogi.si).
