Summer Museum Night 2024 with SLOGI – Theater Museum

The third Saturday in June will be the 22nd Summer Museum Night, a traditional joint event of Slovenian museums and galleries, which will have their doors open to visitors of all ages from late afternoon until midnight. You are welcome to visit us at the Slovenian Theatre Institute – Theatre Museum and on a guided tour of our permanent exhibition at Turjak Castle.

From our collections: presentation of new acquisitions from the oeuvre of Tone Stojko - video documentation of non-institutional theater 1994-2015, video projection

As part of the Summer Museum Night 2024, we will present a selection of newly acquired videos from the extremely extensive archive of cameraman and editor Tone Stojko, who has been devotedly monitoring and documenting Slovenian theatre production for several decades. The SLOGI AV collection is now enriched by a part of Stojko's video documentation of non-institutional theatre, which was created in the period 1994–2015 and from which we have selected the titles listed below. They will be shown on the following dates:

The permanent exhibition vividly presents the beginnings and central trends of theater in Slovenia, its involvement in European cultural events and its role in the formation of Slovenian national consciousness.

Following the traces of theatrical heritage, creative exploration exhibition for children and families

In the exploration game, children, on their own or with the help of their parents, explore our permanent exhibition, solve various tasks, and learn about the history of theatre in Slovenia in a creative way.

Theater in miniature, a creative drop-in workshop for children and families

18:00–22:00

Explore the theater suitcase and learn about theater spaces, professions, and performing arts. They will surely inspire you to create your own small-scale theater.

Milestones of theatrical play, public tour of the permanent exhibition of the Slovenian Theatre Institute at Turjak Castle

The permanent exhibition of the Slovenian Theatre Institute at Turjak Castle examines theatre in Slovenia from various perspectives. On a public tour, visitors will be able to discover individual historical chapters, different approaches to acting and theatrical creation, and the reflections of today's professors at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television. Through photographic, sound and audio-visual recordings, they will learn about the fundamental features of individual acting expressions and trace actors' memories and other types of preservation of theatrical acting.
