Iz naših zbirk – Equus, prva profesionalna režija nagrajenca Prešernovega sklada 2021

We present to you the collections of SLOGI – Theatre Museum. In February 2021, we are dedicating ourselves to Tomi Janežič, the 2021 Prešeren Fund laureate and Equus, his first professional directorial effort.

One of the Prešeren Fund awards, the highest national recognition for outstanding artistic achievements, was received this year by theatre director TOMI JANEŽIČ, for the play no title yet and Sedem vprašanj o sreči, ki ju je v slovenskem gledališkem prostoru ustvaril po več letih izjemno uspešnega umetniškega delovanja v tujini.

The recipient of numerous domestic and international awards, he graduated and earned a master's degree in theater directing from the Academy of Theater, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana, where he is currently employed as a full professor. He has specialized in the field of psychodrama, and in addition to directing, he has also established himself internationally as an expert in various acting techniques. He has been dedicating himself to research in the field of acting since 1996, when he also made his professional debut as a director with the production of the play Equus Peter Shaffer and, according to critic Vladimir Kocjančič, "showed all the maturity of youth with his first directorial effort."

The photo of Tomi Janežič was taken during the preparation of the visual material for the theatre brochure of the performance. Equus produced by the Ljubljana City Theatre (premiere 18. 4. 1996). Photo: Tone Stojko. Source: Ikonoteka SLOGI – Theatre Museum.
