We present to you the collections of SLOGI – Theatre Museum. In January 2020, we present a stage design (23.7 x 33.5 cm, watercolor) by Maks Kavčič for the production by Nikolai Andreevich Rimsky-Korsakov: Snow Maiden (director Hinko Leskovšek, Opera of the Slovenian National Theatre in Ljubljana, 1951/52).
Academic painter Maks Kavčič (1909–1973) was a versatile and charismatic personality; he also worked as a restorer, organizer and educator, and as a set designer (and sometimes costume designer) he designed more than 65 opera and drama productions. He left his mark on Slovenian theatre with his creativity, and his sketches are an important part of the SLOGI collection – the Theatre Museum. Recently, it has been enriched with the artist's extensive theatre oeuvre – donated to us by Irena Kavčič and Metka Kavčič.
