Gleda(l)išče and the Golden Stick

The national project of cultural and artistic education to increase the theater literacy and creativity of children, young people and professional workers, the promotion of interdisciplinary creative partnerships and the development of general competences in the field of culture.

Slovenian Theater Institute (SLOGI) as national coordinator of cultural and artistic education (KUV) in the field of theater advocates for the connection between professional theater institutions and creators in the field of KUV and for closer cooperation with educational institutions (VIZ).

In the period 2016-2021, SLOGI was the contractor of the project watching(l) is looking for. The operation was carried out within the framework of the Development of Innovative Learning Environments and Flexible Forms of Learning Program for Raising General Competences in the Field of Culture (JR ESS RIUO 2016–2021) and was co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.

Project watching(l) is looking for was designed as an exemplary model and a comprehensive strategy of a flexible form of learning, which connects educational institutions, cultural institutions and creators in partnership and introduces informal, creative, cultural and educational approaches into the formal learning environment. The project introduced informal, creative approaches to the formal learning environment to increase knowledge about theatre, performance process, dramaturgy and theater heritage.

Even after the completion of the project, we continue to manage the basic module of the project platform Golden Stick (Zlata paličica) platform, which is an integrated online environment, an integral part of which are recommended high-quality theater performances for children and youth and recommended KUV content in the field of theater. The platform actively encourages partnership between VIZ and creators and enables systematic and continuous learning about quality theater productions for children and youth.

History of the institute and its activities

The implementation part of the project included three main modules: The show under scrutiny as a guided tour of a theater performance and an exemplary model of integrating a visit to the theater into the learning environment, Pre-Drama! as a creative partnership to develop a flexible form of teaching drama and theater heritage and Let's give each other fire as a set of professional trainings and exchanges of good practices for professional workers from VIZ and culture and for creators.

Project He is looking was held throughout Slovenia in cooperation with VIZ and higher education institutions, as well as governmental and non-governmental producers and creators in the field of performing arts.
