The Slovenian Theatre Yearbook 2016/2017 is the twenty-fifth in a row and is also the 30th continuation of the centennial Repertoar of Slovenian theatres (1867–1967). It is based on the online database of Slovenian theatre production (on the portal www.sigledal.org), but it also significantly upgrades the data collected there – with editorials, information on festivals and awards, information on reruns and tours, and a summary and comparison of data between specific theatres (in a statistical table).

It shows 224 detailed premiere performances and 267 reruns of Slovenian institutional, non-institutional and also more prominent semi-professional theatres and theatre groups. But the number of premieres shown by these formal statistics is unrealistically high. Namely, it includes as many as 41 co-productions, some of which are triple. This means that the number of premieres is actually 183. But even this data is not entirely realistic, since there is a considerable number of pseudo-premieres, performances that are premieres more in name than in fact. In general, it shows that the data provided by the Yearbook should always be contextualized, evaluated in a comparative context. On the way through time, it is a constant that attendance from season to season, albeit slightly, but permanently, decreases. In the 2016/17 season, compared to the previous one, it decreased by a good 2 %, from approx. 902,000 to 881,000 spectators. The statistical table illustrates the more or less successful stories of individual theatres in horizontal rows, while the vertical row provides the totals of the national production in the 2016/17 season: the total number of all plays, the number of Slovenian authors played, the number of foreign authors played, the number of premieres, reruns, guest appearances and all repetitions.
