Slovene Drama in Translations

Book editions, magazine publications, typescripts and manuscripts

The exhibition is on view from July 2 to September 20, 2024 (Mon.-Fri. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

The SLOGI Library also collects and stores translations of Slovenian authors into foreign languages. We present the selection at this year's book exhibition.

The oldest text on display is Borštnik's translation of Cankarjev Jakob Ruda into Croatia (1900), and the most extensive translation projects are Collected dramatic works Ivan Cankar (The Complete Plays, 2021) and the texts of Grum's laureates (Week of Slovenian Drama, Prešeren's Theater Kranj), both in English.

In addition to translations into English, Croatian and Serbian, which are the most numerous, we also exhibit plays in German, Italian, French, Spanish, Czech, Polish, Slovak and Hungarian.

With the exhibition, we want to present the variety of translated material and at the same time draw attention to the new online portal Slovene Drama in TranslationMore about the portal >>
