Ivan Cankar in conversation with Izidor Cankar at Rožnik: "What gives me the most acceleration at writing is – anger. Political and literary wisdom infatuates one into taking notes that are to tranquil the heart. For the good of the nation, Lady Judit and White Chrysanthemum were made this way. Were there no anger... God bless it! Substance is thus ready beforehand, all acts are distinctly in front of me. Serfs came to paper in the way that made me vividly see the faces of the characters and clearly distinguish their voices. This is why I write very quickly.
