The incredible wealth with which international ballet artists Pia and Pino Mlakar have enriched the Slovenian national ballet treasury with their cosmic dance melodies is an unparalleled value. Similarly, they have placed their exceptional choreographic creations in the bosom of European artistic heritage.
Their architecturally unique Eternal Ballet Homestead on the banks of the Krka River in Novo mesto, in a sense, symbolizes their universal artistic creativity, which to a large extent forms the most valuable part of our ballet treasury.
Is the 100th anniversary of our ballet perhaps the right moment to ask ourselves whether we know how to sufficiently appreciate and respect the timeless gift of Pia and Pino Mlakar? Or do we just feel that something more could be done? Perhaps to give meaning to the Eternal Ballet Homestead and raise it to a more enviable level of our cultural heritage?
Guest talk by the Association of Ballet Artists of Slovenia (DBUS) on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the professional Ljubljana ballet ensemble and ballet in Slovenia.
