Cveta Mirnik: Costume Designer and her World
Cveta Mirnik (1951–2021) studied costume design at the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade. She graduated in September 1978 and immediately created her first theatre costumes – for the first staging of the Pindar's Ode by Janez Žmavc at Celje City Theatre.
The costume design ouvre of Cveta Mirnik is perhaps less extensive, but its imprint marks the period between 1978 and 2005. She created 45 costume designs at various Slovenian theatre institutions, but collaborated in film and television as well.
She was awarded the Borštnik Prize twice, in 1979 and 1985. Except for theatre stages, she presented sketches and costumes in the frame of individual exhibitions in Žalec, Laško, Celje and Maribor, as well as at group exhibitions at home and abroad.
The exhibit is at display in the domains of SLOGI (Mestni trg 17, 1st floor) until May 22, 2026.
