At the initiative of Janez and Krištof Zupet, the Slovenian Theatre Museum published the Slovenian Tetralogy of Ivan Mrak. This marks the first time that four of Mrak's plays, written between 1942 and 1975: The Woes of the Victors, The Hostages, The Red Mass and The Joy of the Victorious, have been published in one book, with an artistic addition of drawings by Karla Bulovec Mrak entitled Seven Visions, accompanied by a note by Ivan Mrak from 1957.
The Slovenian tetralogy tackles wartime, occupation, and loyalty to the nation as that "holy see" (Nietzsche) in a very special and, for today's times, surprising way, without which the fate of both the individual and the entire community is put to the most demanding test.
The discussion is about "hymn tragedies" and was led by the author of the accompanying words, Dr. Denis Poniž. The event was complemented by a screening of a television adaptation of Mrak's play The Blessing of the Victorious, directed by Talal Hadi in the 1980s.
