New permanent exhibition of the Slovenian Theatre Institute
From the end of September 2023, an exhibition will be on display at Turjak Castle Milestones of theater play. It arose from the desire to approach artistic expression, which is inherently elusive, as it lives in the moment of performance. Since it cannot be captured and preserved in the entirety of its realization, the approach taken by the exhibition is only one of the possible ones. The exceptionally broad field of theatrical play in Slovenia is presented by various perspectives, including, for example, an exploratory one with the presentation of selected examples of different approaches to play and theatrical creation.
Bakery Theatre was founded by Lado Kralj and his like-minded friends, who said in a television interview in 1972 that Pekarna was an attempt to "redefine the relationship between the spectator and the actor, the relationship between the actor and the play, the role, between the actor and the world", and that Dane Zajc's drama Wanderer evoked non-naturalistic emotional states in the actors. The actors attempted to internalize the states in the scenes, but it was not a re-experiencing in the manner of Stanislavski nor a Brechtian manipulation of the viewer.
