Dušan, father of the Slovenian Youth Theatre

Theater mag Dušan Jovanović dedicated ten years of his life to Mladinski as its artistic director and director. At that time, it became a space of artistic freedom and experimentation. However, Dušan's role in constituting Mladinski as a contemporary and socially engaged theatre in the context of Slovenian theatre history remained somewhat obscure. It was already overlooked in some Slovenian and Yugoslav theatre criticism in the 1980s. Dušan's departure from Mladinski in 1987 was sudden and unplanned; he did not like to talk about it. In discussing the theatrical eighties, we will not dig into the wounds, we would only like Dušan's importance for the development of Mladinski to remain in Slovenian theatre memory.
