Slovenian Theatre Institute (SLOGI) with publication As if I were here temporarily - In dialogue with Tomi Janežič, a book of selected interviews with Tomi Janežič, written between 1997 and 2023, examines the directorial discourse of one of the representatives of the "fourth generation" of Slovenian theatre directors. Since his first directing at the institution in 1996, Janežič has intensively established himself beyond his Slovenian domicile and, with his performance poetics, has defined the last quarter of a century of theatre in this part of Europe.
Janežič's creative platform develops in interaction with the dramatic writing of the authors, the three key ones Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, Milena Marković, Simona Semenič, and others. Especially in the performances that were created in the former Yugoslav republics, there is a gradual authorial shift in the director's writing, his treatment of the dramatic text and the actor.
