Engaged Audience 2.0

In 2023/24 we are implementing a project Engaged Audience 2.0, which is co-financed by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program and represents a continuation of the project Engaged Audience (2020-2022).

The Slovenian Theatre Institute is an established provider of programs and projects in the field of cultural and artistic education for children and youth, as well as professional training and scientific symposia. In addition, we want to address the general adult audience with informal educational programs that seek in-depth experiences in the field of theatrical heritage and art. Therefore, we pay great attention to the development of andragogical programs that use modern approaches to theatrical and museum pedagogy, enable active participation of learners, and increase the accessibility and recognition of our collections and exhibitions.

Cooperation and international mobility within the framework of the Erasmus+ program enable our staff to get to know similar institutions abroad, exchange good practices, and acquire new knowledge, experience, and competences in the field of general adult education. In the project Engaged Audience, which we implemented from December 31, 2020 to December 30, 2022, focused on participation in organized training courses and conferences. You can read a short article about the project activities at EPALE platform.

Current project Engaged Audience 2.0, which runs from 1 July 2023 to 31 December 2024, focuses on active workplace monitoring. So far, the project has included a two-week work monitoring at the Institute for Applied Theatre (IFANT) in Vienna, visits to the Museum of Theatre Arts in Serbia and the Museum of the National Theatre in Belgrade, and visits to related theatre institutions in Madrid, which operate under the Spanish National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM). We are also planning a visit by an expert, Claudia Bühlmann from Vienna, and another workplace monitoring at the Austrian Theatre Museum.

In addition to a better international network and the knowledge and experience gained, the project activities so far have also had a direct impact. Namely, we have developed two new andragogical programs Insights into the Theatre History and Behind the stage, which we began performing in the 2023/24 theater season in collaboration with SNG Drama Ljubljana. Due to the excellent response from the audience, we are continuing to perform the programs and are upgrading them in the 2024/25 season with an additional partner, SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana. We expect to continue to supplement and upgrade the offer in the future.
