From our Collections – Touring Exhibition Tone Stojko, Theatre Photography

Tone Stojko (1947) is one of the most important Slovenian photographers of the last half a century. Besides documentary and portrait photography, one of his focuses has always been theatre. His theatre opus includes over 310,000 photos, recognisable by his signature artistic approach.

The exhibition Theatre Photography – with the opening on 7 June 2024 at the Maribor Theatre Festival, SNT Maribor – accompanies the eponymous e-book and includes photos taken between 1969 and 2016. Tone Stojko dedicates it to Dušan Jovanović with whom he first embarked on the theatre voyage.

Later in 2024, the exhibition will be displayed at the Slovenian Theatre Institute in Ljubljana and at the Anton Podbevšek Theatre in Novo mesto.
