In 2020, Ejti Štih (birth name Marija Štih, b. 1957), the daughter of Melita Vovk and of the culturally prominent publicist and artistic leader Bojan Štih (1923–1986) – his work resounded above all in theatre circles -, donated notable theatre works of her mother to the Slovenian Theatre Institute – Theatre Museum.

Next to numerous sketches of the set and costume designs that represent the core of Melita Vovk’s oeuvre, Ejti Štih handed over the notebooks and various cuttings, drafts of letters and applications, chance drawings and notes etc.

The artist’s legacy also includes sketches that we labelled as »Behind the scenery and from the theatre hall« – On all occasions Melita Vovk used to take a pencil and made a sketches of the artistic team or of individual artists at work. Her drawings in the book Youth On Stage by Draga Ahačič traverse the fields of book illustration and costumography, as the book is intended to theatre education and includes practical advice for youth stages and the excerpts fr om plays and fair ytale dramatisations.
