V svoji zgodnji ustvarjalni dobi je bil Milan Skrbinšek (1886-1963) naš prvi moderni režiser, ki je deloval v vseh slovenskih gledališčih od Trsta do Celja in Maribora, vendar ga je bolj kot režija vabila dramska igra.
