The building has been listed as a national cultural monument with characteristics of an architectural monument. It was built in 1911, as designed by the Viennese architect Alexander Graf, formerly a member of the renowned architectural studio <em>Fellner &amp; Helmer<\/em>. The opening of the German Theatre, or the Emperor Franz Joseph Jubilee Theater was on October 4 that same year. Since February 6, 1919, Slovene spoken performances have been staged in the building.<\/p>\n<p>In the period between 2008 and 2010, the National Theater Museum of Slovenia cooperated with theater institutes and museums from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia as part of the Culture 2000 program.
