The publication is co-published by the Slovenian Research Institute (SLORI) from Trieste, the Slovenian Permanent Theatre (SSG) from Trieste and the Slovenian Theatre Institute (SLOGI). We are publishing and publicly presenting it on the 110th anniversary of the start of regular operations of the Slovenian Theatre in Trieste in its own hall.<\/p>\n

"The monograph, in its title, illustrates the scope of the activities of the Trieste Slovenian Theatre from the establishment of the tradition, when the Slovenian and Slavic bourgeoisie became aware of their location on the outskirts of Slavism and began to publicly assert their national identity, almost to the present day (from 1850 to 2000). The work was written in Italian, as this theatre has been operating in Italy for a long time and Italians know little about it and their Slovenian fellow citizens. If Trieste experienced disturbing and extremely conflictual periods in the 1950s that marked its population, Slovenian theatre activity recorded all these turbulences, including its ups and downs. The activities of the Trieste Slovenian Theatre are in every respect a mirror of the time and space in which it operates,<\/em>", wrote its author, Dr. Bogomila Kravos, about the monograph.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dr. Bogomila Kravos is a Slavic scholar, PhD in literary studies, former teacher of Slovenian language and literature, and an independent researcher who collaborates with the Slovenian Theatre Institute in Ljubljana, the Civica Museo Teatrale C. Schmidl in Trieste, and the Slovenian Research Institute in Trieste. She publishes essays, criticism, and studies on theatre and Slovenian and Italian drama in magazines.
