Space within space \u2013 the development of stage venues in Slovenia, from backstage spaces to spaces without borders<\/em><\/h4>\n

In line with the development of other theatre branches, the form of stage spaces also began to develop after the First World War. In addition, there were often venues that, due to their new form, also influenced the way of acting, directing and dramaturgy. Famous Slovenian visual artists and architects were also involved in the new concepts of stage venues, for example Avgust \u010cernigoj, Gabrijel Stupica, Marij Pregelj, Maksim Gaspari, Ivan Vavpoti\u010d, Ivo Spin\u010di\u010d, Mirko Lipu\u017ei\u010d, Drago Tr\u0161ar, Janez Lenassi, Jakob Savin\u0161ek, Meta Ho\u010devar, Marko Japelj... In spaces without borders, venues also began to be built with mobile technical devices, new media, television, film footage, projections and spotlights. The lecture will guide you through the stages of different types of stage venues and their development until 1991.<\/p>\n

Ana Kocjan\u010di\u010d, MA, author of the exhibition Space within space: Scenography in Slovenia until 1991<\/em><\/h4>\n

Art historian Ana Kocjan\u010di\u010d (1977) completed her postgraduate studies at the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana in 2006. Scenography in Slovenian drama theaters between the two world wars (1918\u20131941)<\/em>. She was a professional collaborator in the field of scenography and theater technique in the preparation of a new dictionary of theater terminology and co-author of the published publication (2007, SAZU, Ljubljana). She is currently an external professional associate of the Slovenian Theater Institute. He researches the history of Slovenian scenography, its connection with the development of Slovenian fine art and the influence of European theater movements and European fine art on its development. She is the author of articles and television and radio programs about the development of Slovenian scenography at home and abroad, and the author of an extensive monograph SPACE IN SPACE \u2013 Scenography in Slovenia from the 17th century to 1991<\/em><\/a>, published by the Slovenian Theater Institute in the collection Documents.<\/p>\n

The exhibition Space within space: Scenography in Slovenia until 1991<\/em><\/h4>\n

shows the development of scenography in Slovenia from the 19th century to Slovenia's independence in 1991. It is the first comprehensive overview of Slovenian scenography, presenting it from a historical, stylistic, artistic and theatrical perspective. It brings a new perspective on the history of fine arts and the history of theatre in our country.<\/p>\n
