Cultural and historical exhibition on the 400th anniversary of the death of the English poet and playwright William Shakespeare (1564-1616). Slovenian Theater Institute in cooperation with Cankarjev dom.<\/p>\n

Shakespeare's Hamlet has inspired theatergoers, poets, thinkers and "ordinary" people for more than four centuries - it lives on even in the minds of those who have never read or seen it. Each period finds in it other challenges and undertones. It was performed in Slovenian on stage for the first time on December 28, 1899, at the State Theater in Ljubljana, directed by Rudolf Inemann, who also played the title role. At the exhibition, Hamlet also appears for the first time in the comic book by Andrej Potr\u010d, published in its entirety in the exhibition catalogue, and the exhibition also presents all the Slovenian Hamlets, walks through the history of performing Hamlet in Slovenia, examines how the famous To be or not to be read and heard in different Slovenian translations... The exhibition, prepared by the Slovenian Theater Institute in cooperation with Cankarjev dom, is an introduction to the Shakespeare Forever festival, with which Cankarjev dom commemorates the anniversary of the death of this great playwright. The exhibition was opened on Monday, January 11, 2016 by the Minister of Culture, M.Sc. Juliana Bizja Mlakar. It was on display until March 14, 2016.<\/p>\n

Virtual exhibition Slovenian Hamlets<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As a continuation of the exhibition Hamlet in Slovenia, we are the Slovenian Theater Institute and Novi Zato. in cooperation with Slovenian theaters, the Prodok teater TV center, the Historical Archive of Celje and Radio Slovenia, they also prepared a virtual exhibition on the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare.<\/p>\n

The Slovenian Hamlets exhibition presents twenty-three Slovenian Hamlets, twenty-three Slovenian theater champions who interpreted Shakespeare's King of Denmark in twenty-two Slovenian productions, from 1899 to 2013, as well as sound recordings of the famous monologue To be or not to be, in six Slovenian translations interpreted by Branko \u0160turbej (director: Ale\u0161 Jan; recorded in the studio of Radio Slovenia).<\/p>\n
