Early Slovenian performances of Tennessee Williams<\/em><\/h2>\n

Tennessee Williams is, with almost thirty Slovenian productions of his works, one of the most frequently performed American playwrights on our stages. The first was staged Glass Menagerie<\/em>, which was produced by the Ljubljana City Theatre in 1953 and directed by Bratko Kreft. In the same year, the Pre\u0161eren Theatre in Kranj also performed Tram Lust<\/em> under the direction of Andrej Hieng. This was followed by numerous installations of his key works, such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof<\/em> and Orpheus descends<\/em>In the following decades, his works were often performed by both central Slovenian theaters and smaller theater houses.<\/p>\n

Dr. Matic Kocijan\u010di\u010d<\/strong>, curator and head of the archive collection of the Slovenian Theatre Institute, will present photographic and critical material in connection with early Slovenian performances of Williams' works.<\/p>\n
