We are presenting our our collections. In August 2019 we are publishing Niko Matul’s, stage design sketch…
Izidor Cankar, PhD (art historian, a decade older cousin of Ivan Cankar), actor Anton Verovšek and Ivan Cankar paying visit to the writer Fran Saleški Finžgar (sitting in the photo) in Sora near Medvode on 11 July, 1911.
Ivan Cankar in conversation with Izidor Cankar at Rožnik: »What gives me the most acceleration at writing is – anger. Political and in literary desipience infatuate one into taking notes that are to tranquil the heart. Za narodov blagor, Gospa Judit and Bela krizantema were made this way. Were there no anger… God bless it! Substance is thus ready beforehand, all acts are distinctly in front of me. Serfs came to paper in the way that made me vividly see the faces of characters and clearly distinguish their voices. This is why I write very quickly. Print engineers call my manuscripts ‘bundle’, as they include almost no deleted word. I wrote Pohujšanje in fourteen days /…/.« Izidor Cankar, Obiski (From the life and doing of our artists).
