Touring Exhibition Tone Stojko, Theatre Photography

Tone Stojko (b. 1947) is one of the most important Slovenian photographers of the last half a century. Next to documentary and portrait photography, one of his core interests has always been theatre. His theatre oeuvre includes over 310 000 photos which all contain his recognisable artistic signature.

The exhibition Theatre Photography – opened on 7 June 2024 at the Maribor Theatre Festival, SNT Maribor – is accompanied by the eponymous e-book and includes photos taken in years 1969–2016. Tone Stojko dedicates it to Dušan Jovanović with whose performance his theatre voyage started.

A restructured version of the exhibition will be presented on 2 October 2024 at the domains of the Slovenian Theatre Institute in Ljubljana. The opening will be followed by a talk between Tone Stojko and the curator Marija Skočir, PhD.
