The Slovenian Theatre Institute (SLOGI) is the national coordinator for arts and cultural education in the field of theatre. As such, it tries to facilitate connections between professional theatre institutions and creators in the field of arts and cultural education as well as close partnerships with educational establishments.
Between 2016 and 2021, SLOGI operated the Gleda(l)išče project, which was a part of the program The development of innovative teaching environments and flexible forms of teaching to elevate the general competences in the field of culture (JR ESS RIUO 2016–2021). It was financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
The Gleda(l)išče project was designed as a sample model and a comprehensive strategy for flexible forms of teaching, which promotes partnerships between educational institutions and cultural institutions and creators, introducing informal, creative, and cultural and educational approaches into the formal teaching environment.
Even after the completion of the project, SLOGI continues to operate the basic module of the project the Golden Stick (Zlata paličica) platform. It provides a comprehensive web-based environment that lists recommended, high-quality theatre performances for children and youth and recommended arts and cultural education content in the field of theatre. The platform is actively supported by partnerships between the educational institutions and creators. It enables a systematic and continuous exploration of high-quality theatre productions for children and youth.
The practical part of the project included three main modules: Predstava pod drobnogledom (The Performance Under Scrutiny) was a guided visit to a theatre performance and a model example of integrating a theatre visit into the teaching environment. PreDRAMI se! (Wake Up!) was a creative partnership intended for the development of a flexible form of teaching drama and theatre heritage. Eden drug’mu ogenj dajmo (Let’s Pass the Flame) was a collection of professional training and good practice exchange for professional workers from educational institutions, cultural workers, and creators.
The Gleda(l)išče project took place all around Slovenia in cooperation with educational institutions, higher-education institutions, and government and non-government producers and creators in the field of performance arts.
The investment was funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union from the European Social Fund.
