Puppet theater of Leokadija Serafinowicz

The exhibition about the work of the famous Polish stage designer, director and puppeteer Leokadija Serafinowicz was created in cooperation with the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences, UNIMA Poland and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland.

 

Leokadija Serafinovicz was born in 1915 in Jonava, Lithuania. From 1936 to 1939, she studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Stefan Batory University in Vilnius. After the war, she finished her studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. In the years 1948-1956, she worked with the Groteska Theater in Krakow, first as an actress-puppeteer, then as an assistant director. In the 1957 / 58 season Leokadija Serafinovicz was the artistic director of the Puppet Stage at the Razmaitosci Theater in Wroclaw, and in the 1958 / 59 season she was the director of the Banialuka Puppet Theater in Bielsko-Biala.
