dr. Romana Ercegović (1972, Ptuj) se je po končanem diplomskem študiju dramaturgije na Akademiji za gledališče, radio, film in televizijo (1998) odločila za samostojno ustvarjalno pot. Leta 2000 je ustanovila Studio za raziskovanje obrednih oblik gledališča ter se posvetila preučevanju starodavnih kultur sveta in odkrivanju novih možnosti gledališke umetnosti. Samostojne avtorske stvaritve je predstavila doma in v tujini. Ob umetniškem raziskovanju svoje zanimanje tudi znanstveno usmerja k področju obrednega gledališča. Leta 2004 je končala magistrski študij na Lesley University v Cambridgeu, Združene države Amerike, doktorat znanosti na področju dramaturgije pa je pridobila na Univerzi v Ljubljani leta 2013 (mentor doc. dr. Blaž Lukan). Njena novoizdana knjiga je predelava doktorske disertacije Sodobno obredno gledališče: grški misteriji in njihov vpliv na revitalizacijo obrednosti v gledališču 20. in 21. stoletja.
In his foreword, Vili Ravnjak wrote that the book "presents a scientifically thorough, academically multidisciplinary review of the oldest history and anthropology of theater art, but it is also a presentation of the state of modern and contemporary world and Slovenian ritual theatre. /.../ Romana Ercegović's way of thinking is characterized by an unconventional thinking approach. Her writing shows that she is a sensitive artist and a perceptive and unencumbered intellectual. As she says at the beginning of the book, for her, the study of history 'makes sense only if it brings a deeper understanding that transforms the imbalances of the past and provides inspiration for the present'. /…/ In contrast to the dominant patriarchal historical and theatrical concepts and paradigms, Ercegović brings freshness and unusual provocativeness to these discussions, as she thinks outside of patriarchal thought structures; her arguments are based on a different (femininely subtle) experience and understanding of reality. In her work there is a spirit that was pushed out of the European consciousness for centuries and millennia. It is a matriarchal civilizational principle, which is analyzed in detail through religious and artistic (theatre) practice Eleusinian mystery.«
