Amphitheatre, Journal of Performing Arts Theory, Volume 7, Issue 2, Presentation

Presentation of the second issue of the seventh volume

Performing Arts Theory Journals

Amfiteater

as part of a joint presentation of three magazines from the field of performing arts

Mask – Amphitheater – Adept

The last issue of Amfiteatr in 2019 is entirely dedicated to the work of Simona Semenič. It includes six discussions by the authors: Mateja Pezdirc Bartol, Mia Hočevar, Eva Pori, Ivana Zajc, Krištof Jacek Kozak and Maja Murnik, as well as essays by Kristina Hagström-Ståhl and Ljudmila Dimitrova on the performances 5boys.si in Sweden and Bulgaria. The thematic block is complemented by an essay by Kim Komljanec on the conditions for staging Slovenian drama abroad and in Slovenia, and a book review by Rok Vevar Day, Night + Man = Rhythm: An Anthology of Slovenian Contemporary Dance Journalism 1918–1960 and Ana Kocjančič Space within Space: Scenography in Slovenia from the 17th Century to 1991.

The common theme of Maske (a magazine for the performing arts) and Amfiteatar (a magazine for the theory of the performing arts) is drama, more precisely new drama, and even more precisely the drama of Simona Semenič. The first part of the evening will be dedicated to the presentation of the contents of both magazines, in the presence of the authors of the articles. The second part of the evening will be crowned with reading performances of scenes from completely fresh drama by young authors Iva Š. Slosar (Tončka), Eve Kučera Šmon (Slowly at first, then pace, pace) and Helene Šukljan (Villa), published in the new issue of Adept magazine (a magazine of contemporary theatre and film creators, AGRFT). A social gathering will follow.

The journal Amfiteater was founded by UL AGRFT. In 2015, the journal began to be published in co-publishing with SLOGI. At the same time, it remains a university scientific journal, with two issues per year. The publication was financially supported by the Slovenian Research Agency and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
