The online exhibition accompanying the Classics in the Graphic Novel project is the result of the cooperation of all three partner institutions (Slovenian Theatre Institute, Slovak Theatre Institute and Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute form Poland) and complements and completes several years of fruitful cooperation.
The e-exhibition presents a brief history of the staging of three drama classics, that have been published in graphic novels in Slovenia, Slovakia and Poland, besides original pedagogical programmes for teaching drama have been developed in collaboration with high school students. The E-exhibition offers a broadening of the view, as it unveils to the more curious reader another layer of artistic creation – staging. The rich archive material is accompanied by short interpretations on the history of the staging of each text in each of the three countries, while longer texts can be read in the book editions of the graphic novels.
The selection of the most significant, historically outstanding productions has been prepared by the national editors. This overview is accompanied by the visual artwork appearance of the individual graphic novels, and as well by brief thoughts on their creation by the authors of the graphic novels: Ciril Horjak from Slovenia, Juraj Martyška from Slovakia and Daniel Chmielewski from Poland.
The Classics in the Graphic Novel online exhibition was prepared in collaboration with NoviZato and SiGledal.
You are cordially invited to take a look!
The project Classics in the Graphic Novel: A pilot model of new high school culture education through graphic novels is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
